Acceptance

Little does the heart know
How to let go
Of the deeply etched memories
The perfectly timed moments
The sound of endless laughter
And the forlorn silent sobs
It’s hard, my friend; it’s hard.

With no choice left
Acceptance becomes your best friend
She’s not easy to get along
Not unless you’re ready
To embrace your vulnerabilities
And sing songs of hope
Even if your voice trembles

Because that’s how you learn
To survive your wounds
Of the past, the present and the future.
